This project to refurbish the West Wing at St. Bartholomews Hospital in the City of London was an advance in the major £600m redevelopment at the Barts and The London NHS Trust.
The Grade I listed ward building in James Gibbss 18C piazza has been converted into a state-of-the-art Womens Cancer Centre. New outpatient facilities are fully equipped with digital diagnostic equipment, part of a major transformation taking place over the next few years to develop Barts into a world-class centre of cancer excellence. Particular attention has been paid to patient pathways, and the outpatient experience was at the core of the teams attention from beginning to end.
The project, funded by a £13.5 million charitable appeal, has a professionally-curated arts component developed within an holistic concept of patient care. The unit is used by CABE and the Kings Fund as an exemplar project.
